The flights are already hit by delays, but unless a solution is found soon, Ryanair CEO Michael O'Leary is threatening to cancel all his flights from the Belgian capital. Tensions between the Dutch-speaking region of Flanders and the mostly French-speaking city region of Brussels have escalated over noise restrictions at the national airport at Zaventem. While serving the capital of Belgium, the airport of Zaventem is located in Flanders. Yet the authorities of the Brussels regional government have announced they want to curb noise pollution over Brussels for take-offs from midnight until 7.00am. Aeroplanes making too much noise will see their company incur a heavy fine. Ryanair is one of the airlines which is hardest hit by the new restrictions, as it holds slots for the operation of many flights in the morning rush hour which starts at 6.00am. Outspoken Irish CEO O'Leary threatened to delay his flights until after 7am to avoid the heavy fines, or cancel them altogether if no later departure slot could be secured at the airport. He said: "They have to resolve the ridiculous noise issue very quickly. I know it is political but Zaventem will lose destinations, flights, connectivity and jobs. It will be an embarrassment for Brussels as capital of Europe." Bizarrely, even modern medium-sized planes like Ryanair's Boeing 737-800, or the Airbus A-320 of many other airlines could easily exceed the new noise limits. The Irishman said he will incur a 6,000 EUR (5,068 GBP) fine per flight which he argues is about 1,000 EUR (845 GBP) more than the revenue of such a flight. WHAT? Les bagages cabines gratuits avec Ryanair, c’est fini!

Ryanair vient d’annoncer la nouvelle: à partir de maintenant, il est impossible d’emporter gratuitement son bagage à main en cabine.

C’était l’astuce imparable pour faire des city trips à moindre coût: emporter une valise de 10kg en cabine pour ne pas payer de bagages en soute. Pourtant Ryanair vient de briser tous nos espoirs en faisant passer ces dix kilos dans la catégorie payante. Et oui, à partir du mois de novembre et pour tous les vols déjà réservés au-delà de cette date, il vous faudra obligatoirement mettre vos bagages en soute. Seul un sac à main sera accepté.

La seule possibilité pour garder sa valise en cabine est de payer 5€ pour un supplément d’embarquement prioritaire, soit Plus, Flexi Plus ou Family Plus. Pour les autres ne souhaitant pas payer plus cher, ils devront mettre leur bagage en soute et le récupérer à la sortie de l’avion. Mais visiblement, ce stockage ne sera pas payant.

Par contre, une bonne nouvelle concernant les bagages en soute payants: désormais ils pourront faire jusqu’à 20kg au lieu de 15 et ne coûteront plus que 25 euros au lieu des 35 euros demandés habituellement.

Cette nouvelle politique sera d’application d’ès le 1er novembre 2017.
